Biathlon

Rifle stability analysis in biathlon using integrated IMU sensors.

INTRODUCTION AND MOTIVATION

The proposed work focused on validating the system to measure rifle stability during shooting and analyzing its relationship with effort control parameters. The objective is to provide objective data to better understand shooting performance in biathlon.

IMU Biathlon

DEVELOPED PROTOTYPE

An initial prototype was developed with an IMU attached to the biathlon rifle to capture motion and stability during shooting, enabling the analysis of micro-movements that affect accuracy.

Measure rifle stability during shooting using IMU sensors to quantify motion patterns and identify factors influencing precision.

Relate shooting stability with athlete effort parameters to better understand the impact of physical exertion on shooting performance.

The external placement of the IMU interfered with rifle handling, so a redesign with embedded electronics was required.

Due to integration issues and delays during assembly, the planned biathlon trials could not be completed, but are expected in future tests.
